Prevention is the best medicine with Pineapple

I pack a portion of pineapple in our lunches daily, predominantly because the best medicine is prevention so I try to fill our diets with foods that assist the immune system to prevent colds & Flus. Protein is an essential of Brad’s diet considering the high intensity training he endures daily; the Bromelain assists in breaking down the large protein molecules and making them more efficient. Pineapple

  1.       Pineapple protects the body from free radicals
  2.       Bromelain is an enzyme in the pineapple and is called the “miraculous enzyme” which helps the digestion process.
  3.       Bromelain is really effective in reducing inflammation and swelling in acute sinus disease, sore throats, arthritis, gout and speeding up recovery after sport injuries and operations.
  4.       It is used to stimulate appetite, improve digestion, prevent diarrhoea, destroys intestinal parasites, help with sunstroke and skin hyper pigmentation caused by aging.
  5.       Pineapple is rich in Vitamin C strengthens the collagen matrix as a result it improves our immune system and has extensive benefit to your skin.
  6.       Vitamin B1 is also highly present in pineapple. Vitamin B1 is also named as thiamine. For the production of energy thiamine is required. It helps in building and repairing of nerves.
  7.       Pineapple lowers the cholesterol level. As we know pineapple contains fiber and photochemical which protects and reduces the cholesterol.
  8.       Pineapple contains acids also, but the good fact is it cleans bacteria from mouth.
  9.       Pineapple contains a little amount of vitamin A. It has antioxidant property which helps in building the mucus membranes also improves the vision of eye. Vitamin A is also beneficial for your skin health.
  10.   Manganese present in pineapple is good for healing and is a good free radical scavenger.

  1. I love pineapple but I can only eat so much. The acidity kills my tongue. :( I guess moderation good though right?

    • Then you’re not picking the right pineapples  did you know that pineapples do not further ripen after they are picked so its best to select the ripest one in store. And yes that’s right everything in moderation and if you don’t particularly like something there’s always an alternative solution

  2. I love Pineapple! Practicing Clean Eating I have learned that when craving sweets I do not have to go for a cookie but fruit will suffice. Particularly pineapple. I love it. Thanks for sharing these great tips.

It is good for mouth ulcers too. As soon as you get the first feelings of a mouth ulcer coming on, drink around 50ml – 100ml of pure pineapple juice (a quality one, not one that is diluted or added sugars) and 9 times out of 10 it kills off the ulcer within 24 hours.

  6. Does this apply to pineapple juice? Because I drink a ton of it.

    • Bromelain is found in the core of the pineapple, do you juice the pineapple yourself or do you buy it from the store? store bought may also contain preservatives, additives or extra sugar which is why I generally only eat whole fruits.

      • Yeah it’s usually store bought. I knew it tasted too good to be healthy. I drink a good amount of orange juice and pineapple juice, while eating mostly grapes and bananas.

      • Haha it definitely is tasty but definitely not the best choice. You could always trying juicing it yourself? Sometimes I cut up cubes of watermelon & pineapple, chuck them in the freezer then when ever I feel like a fresh juice ill just chuck them in a blender with some water. Super easy, quick and fresh!

I love making pinapple juice. It’s very sweet so it’s a great to mix with green juice. It’s also a great “mocktail” when entertaining! Great to know it has so many health benefits as well!
